If you had asked me this question just 10 to 15 years ago, I would have admitted that private health insurance plans was a complete extravagance and totally unnecessary. However, as time has gone by and the level of service being offered by the NHS has changed, so too has my mind. I am not saying that the NHS is now offering a substandard service - far from it. I am saying, though, that as the large pharmaceutical companies insist of ripping us all off with the price of their patented drugs - the NHS simply cannot afford them. It really does sicken me to hear how there is a definite postcode lottery in operation in this country, meaning that while some patients will be entitled to costly medication for their condition in one area, if you live in another postcode, this will not be the case. (more...) About seven years ago, I had a lovely little job, which I enjoyed very much, and this included business health insurance as one of the perks of my salary. In fact, it was one of the biggest reasons why I accepted that position of employment in the first Place. However, in the end the management of that company changed and they amended our contract of employment and removed the entitlement to this additional perk. Obviously I kicked up as huge a stink as I could - in fact, I pride myself on having secured a majority representation through a union, but we were still unsuccessful in having this perk reinstated. We learnt quickly how employment law is often stacked in the favour of an employer and were all totally disgusted in the way our legal system had totally let us down. But as the country is now going through one of the depressed economic eras in something like 20,000 years, you can bet your bottom dollar that more and more employers are looking to this exact thing to save revenue. (more...) Food prices have rocketed over the last couple of years, as has gas and electric, and let us not even start on the disgusting price of petrol at the pumps. This is a time when we really need other companies to reign in their pricing structures and show some level of compassion and support to the people of this country. Alas though, this was far from the case where the insurance companies are concerned. If you consult price comparison sites like UK money market, this will reveal that the average price of car insurance has actually increased by no less than a whopping 37% in just one year. Of course, these parasites know full well that we are all legally obliged to purchase a certain level of insurance for our motor vehicles and this must be exactly why they have gone ahead with such an arbitrary rise. (more...) Obviously, we all know that there are certain types of insurance that are absolutely imperative in everyday life - this is a simple fact. However, as households look to amend their budgets in 2011, insurance is one aspect that can usually be cut back on. Even if you consider yourself to be far too busy, do not just automatically continue with your insurance policies as the renewal details land on your door mat this year. You see, insurance companies are always counting on there being a certain percentage of muppets, who will fail to check how much their insurance has increased by and this is used to negate the huge discounts they offer new customers. To quickly get the low-down on the names of companies that are currently offering some of the best deals in insurance, it may well work out to be a good idea to check-out an online insurance forum or two. And let those price comparison sites become your best friends in 2011 - you really could save a lot of money; which could be far better spent elsewhere. (more...) There is no denying the fact that we are very lucky to enjoy a complimentary health service in this country. In fact, if you ask any American or European their opinion on our NHS, you will definitely see them turn a shade of green when they unconvincingly try to reassure you that their private medical insurance works better. Notwithstanding this great service in the UK, it cannot be denied that life feels 100% more secure if you have a private health insurance in the background. At least you know that if you were to feel ball of foot pain or worse still, a lump on a part of your body, you would be rushed in for an immediate check-up and if any treatment is required, it would be administered far more expeditiously. Even more importantly, you would not have to face any of those long waiting lists for appointments and the level of care received would be exponentially higher than through the NHS. (more...) There is no denying the fact that when you pass away, this is not exactly a cheap business. I know! Even when we are gone, we still have to cough-up even more money - there is just never any escape. But the most important thing to consider here is the fact that you do not want to pass massive debts on to your loved ones. Asides from the fact that this is completely irresponsible, grief is enough of an issue in itself and you do not want to compound the anguish the people close to you have to suffer over your passing. Far too many people make provision for their finances in the event of their death: this is especially the case when someone dies earlier than might have been expected, or in an unexpected and tragic accident. This leaves loved ones in dire straits, forced to take out huge loans or to pursue equity release schemes when they would not have done so otherwise. (more...) Even if this current period of financial woe, it remains vitally important for you to keep up with the payments of your life annuities. This is mainly because if you fail to do so, there is always a very strong chance of your losing out on the final benefits of this financial contract; at best, you could expect to receive less of a payout. When people are forced to tighten their belt, at times of financial hardship, unfortunately, insurance policies and annuities are often the first thing to be neglected. Any insurance policy will only ever be a good thing if you stick to the terms of the repayments that were set out in the beginning. Your response to these facts may be something along the lines of - such annuities are not essential at the moment, I must focus on other bills for the time being. This is all very well and understandable, but your future and the security of your family is even more vital. (more...) If you have to go away on business for any length of time, you will need to check that you are actually covered for your trip by a company business medical insurance policy. They would be foolhardy to send you away without it, but it still falls upon you to check that it is in place as it will be you on the other side of the world if anything happens. The key thing is to check that you are covered for what you want to do as it is easy to assume that the policy covers everything. There may be certain countries that are not covered by the policy or you may be doing activities that are not covered by the business insurance. (more...) You might think that insurance and annuities are expensive and many people try to get around this by either not taking out insurance at all, or just taking out the minimum, but chances are that you will need to claim on an insurance a few times in your life and the lack of cover could cost you dear, so it could be a false economy. House insurance is one of the most critical as it covers some of the most expensive things you own – bricks, mortar and possessions. You hear many sad tales of people who have suffered fires or burglaries and have lost all their possessions, but who have not taken out insurance cover. While you cannot help but sympathise, house insurance is one of those essential expenses in life which we have to swallow. (more...) If you do have the chance to land a job that offers private medical insurance or Medicare Supplemental Insurance as part of the package then you would be well advised to grab it with both hands. Large firms get a good deal on the price of private medical insurance, whereas if you try to buy it off your own back it may work out too expensive. There are definitely benefits to having private health insurance, even if you do qualify for free healthcare where you live. Apart from anything else, you have the peace of mind from knowing that you are covered for just about anything if you fall sick or suffer an injury. You often also get treated much more quickly if you have private medical insurance as many hospitals will put you to the top of the waiting list. This may not seem fair to other people but it is the case and I have seen several examples of private patients getting quicker treatment than state ones. (more...) Buying insurance can be a nightmare. There are myriad service providers out there and everyone advertises itself as the best; as a prospective customer, it can be very difficult to know which to choose. Regardless of whether you're looking for household cover or insurance glossary it's always a good idea to ask around amongst friends and family for recommendations. This is a good way of getting an idea of which companies should be avoided and which might prove to be useful to you. You should also get online and have a look at a few comparison sites. These allow you to look at various insurance companies at once so that you can easily weigh up the pros and cons of each one. Automatically eliminate every option that falls outside your budget and focus your attention on the rest. (more...) If you feel disillusioned with our National Health Service and have decided to go down the private route - you really are not alone. You will generally tend to find that the policies with the very lowest premiums are the ones that only cover a meagre amount of your travel money. Even those people who are making investment or lifestyle purchases such as phones, furniture, white goods and electricals have probably been online to check stuff out before venturing out to buy.
E-commerce has certainly brought about a revolution in shopping, but this has become even more revolutionary in the financial services sector. Where looking for a loan or insurance used to be a hugely long winded job, the rapid blossoming of online sites selling financial products has completely changed the way people now access money related products.
