If you have to go away on business for any length of time, you will need to check that you are actually covered for your trip by a company business medical insurance policy. They would be foolhardy to send you away without it, but it still falls upon you to check that it is in place as it will be you on the other side of the world if anything happens.
The key thing is to check that you are covered for what you want to do as it is easy to assume that the policy covers everything.
There may be certain countries that are not covered by the policy or you may be doing activities that are not covered by the business insurance.
Some examples of this can include travel to dangerous zones – and let's face it just about any country can flare up at the moment – either though the political unrest or through natural disasters.
Other examples may be activities on a business trip which I learnt from good experience when a colleague had a sporting accident while on an incentive trip to the Far East. Luckily the accident insurance was sufficient to cover him for treatment in a good hospital, even if we did spend a few days by his bedside, but it could have been far worse without adequate insurance.
